be going through tiktok ads step by step the a to ,z everything you need to know to launch your first
ad on the platform today now we're currently using ,tick tock in our marketing agency the affluent
agency and we're generating a ridiculous amount ,of new revenue for our clients at the moment using
the platform i cannot wait to bring this to you ,guys today it's been a long time coming i've got
a presentation ready for you we're going to jump ,onto it in a second but before we do i want

so tick-tock ads training first of all let's ,start off with some data we need to understand
the opportunity here now tik tok was the most ,downloaded app in 2020 with 850 million downloads
okay tiktok has 1.1 billion active users worldwide ,with 90 of users using the app multiple times per
day so we can get ourselves in front of our ideal ,customer multiple times a day on average now as
of january 2021 tick tock raked in 128 million in ,user spending marking an increase of 380 from its
january 2020 revenue so it's growing year on year ,almost 4x in user revenue now take top ranks
as the second biggest app in consumer spend ,above youtube disney plus and netflix this
is probably the uh the biggest stat on this ,screen ranking above youtube and netflix in
consumer spend is absolutely ridiculous so ,it's a monumental opportunity for people and
businesses to sell their products on the platform ,how many times have you spoken to someone they've
said ah i found that product on tick tock it's ,happening a lot these days so let's jump on to how
you can actually make the most of that so this is ,the tick tock ad structure so at the top we have
tick tocks ad manager then we have ad campaigns ,we have ad groups we have ad creative and then
landing pages to break these down one by one tick ,doc ads manager is where you manage your ticktock
advertising account similar to the facebook ,ad manager now a ad campaign is the foundation
of your ad so we're setting up our advertising ,objectives and formats we then have ad group which
is target audiences ad placements budget and the ,bidding then we have the ad creative which is
the text and the video that will appear on our ,apps what we're physically seeing then finally our
landing page and this is the destination url that ,we are driving our potential customers too this
is the place where they will actually buy our ,products or service so when you actually have your
tick tock ad account up and running this is kind ,of what the format will look like we have our ad
manager at the top we have campaigns beneath that ,then inside an ad campaign we would have multiple
ad groups so we'll be testing out multiple ,audiences and inside those audiences we may even
be testing out multiple different ad creatives ,as well so what are the actual creative the the
creative formats that we can use on tick tock well ,we have top view on the left hand side here which
is like a full-size video which shows up when we ,launch the app we don't have brand tank takeover
now these are the most expensive tic toc ads and ,very large brands use these and again these come
up right at the start of launching the app and it ,takes over the entire screen then have in feed ads
this is what we're going to be going through today ,and what most businesses are actually using
to generate the most revenue from tick tock ,we have branded hashtag challenges so if we
want to launch a challenge on the platform and ,then finally branded event so we want to have our
own branded stickers on uh on tick tock itself so ,people can use them when they're creating their
own content but as i said in feed ads it's the ,ad format we use for our tiktok ad clients

do,the same thing as we did with that lead,generation video and walk you start to,finish through creating and launching a,tick tock conversion focused campaign,as i mentioned in the intro we have a,number of videos already put together,for the tick tock ads platform and in an,effort to keep this video from being,three hours long anytime i come across a,portion of the campaign setup that we,already have a video for i'll give a,short overview here but i'll direct you,to the other video that we already have,available on the channel if you want to,learn more about it when you first log,into tiktok it's going to drop you on,this dashboards page so to create a new,campaign we need to come over to the,campaigns tab now we're in a section,that looks a bit more like an ad manager,rather than just a dashboard overview so,let's come down here and click create,campaign more often than not the first,thing tiktok is going to ask you is if,you want to use simplified mode or,custom mode simplified is an experience,that's taken a few pieces away that is,designed to help you spend less time,creating and managing campaigns and,getting back to running your business,now while this sounds really useful and,can be helpful to people who are just,genuinely overwhelmed with the number of,different things you can do through,online advertising this is the paid,media pros channel and we like to call,ourselves pros so we're not going to,take the simplified route in the custom,mode you get full control of the,experience that's perfect for all,advertising objectives so let's click,this and then the first thing we get to,do is choose our advertising objective,or our campaign objective as it would be,referred to in other platforms as i,mentioned in the intro this is going to,be a conversion focused campaign but if,you're interested in any of the other,advertising objectives on tiktok you can,check out the video at the top of the,screen right now for now i'm just going,to click conversions and i'll scroll,down to the settings section the first,thing we get to do is choose a campaign,name i do not intend on saving this,campaign by the end of it so i'm not,going to give it a name but there will,be a default campaign name that always,starts with the advertising objective,and then the campaign id number my guess,is that most of you will not be able to,remember,that 202 208 1908119,is a specific campaign compared to,anything else so you probably need to,give it a more descriptive name than,this original placeholder the next,section is choosing special ad,categories this is going to be extremely,similar to facebook if you're,advertising in anything in the housing,employment or credit space you need to,declare that at the beginning or risk,having your ad be rejected and have your,ad account put in limbo because you did,not declare those these are highly,regulated areas and need to follow all,special ad category policies the next,setting is if you want to create a split,test we do not want to do that here but,at some point in the future we will,likely put together a video on how to,create a tick tock ad split test but for,now suffice to say they do have that,capability on the tick tock platform the,last two settings are going to have to,do with your budget first is you can,turn on campaign budget optimization,which effectively means that you're,going to be able to share your budget,across the different ad groups within,your campaign so if you turn this on you,can only choose from a daily budget and,that budget has to be at least fifty,dollars so there is a minimum on a,campaign level budget utilizing campaign,budget optimization in tick tock the bid,strategy is going to be set for lowest,cost and you cannot change this and,you'll notice that all ad groups under,the current campaign must all use the,same optimization goal which we'll get,to when we get into the ad group level,setup for now i'm going to million dollars in sales in just four years tick ,tock ads is the new kid on the blog usually we're
heavily reliant on facebook because it's such an ,incredible marketing tool but lots of people are
getting heaps of success with the new entertaining ,nature of tick tock ads so it might be perfect
for your brand this video is perfect for beginners ,we're not going to skip any steps but i'm also
going to go into some advanced things around ,content because that is so important to make sure
that you make tick tock ads work the first step ,you're going to want to do is set up your shopify
store if you haven't set up your shopify store ,just pause the video click the link in my bio and
set it up now we've got one set up through our ,lemon scrub series so it's got most of the things
ready we're just going to make sure that we set up ,tiktok properly so the pixel is firing once you're
in shopify the best way to go is go into apps and ,just write in tiktok simply download the official
tiktok app and click add sales channel this is the ,exact same as facebook nowadays this will bring
up this little tick tock section down on the left ,hand store of your shopify store if you don't have
shopify still carry on watching we're going to get ,into the nitty gritty in a second once this is set
up we can click this section here setting up the ,pixel the next step you can see that it's saying
connect tick tock for business this is where you ,need a new tick tock account already have a tick
tock business account you can just click connect ,but today we're gonna have to create a brand new
one so i'm just gonna click create new at the top ,enter my email address get the verification code
sent into the verification code here agree to ,terms and conditions and just click sign up you
can click connect down the bottom right and that's ,now created an ads manager business manager under
that email we can click create new ad account and ,we can select the country and the currency that we
want to be built in this is generally the region ,that you want to be targeting change the business
name to something a little bit simpler click sign ,up and connect you'll come to this data sharing
section which we've touched on a few times in my ,previous episodes just click enhanced or maximum
providing you've got the terms and conditions set ,up for something and then click confirm maximum
is obviously preferred this is how shopify shares ,data with ticktock this is referred to as capi
which is a partnership between shopify and the ,advertising platform click set up enter your final
details make sure you connect automatic payment ,click confirm and you should be ready to go now
to create tick-tock ads we're actually going to ,have to go back to the tick-tock ads manager so
we can go ads.tichtalk.com you can see that our ,ad account has already been created to make sure
that we do have the pixel set up properly what i ,do recommend is going to your website and just
like facebook there's something called tic toc ,pixel helper and it's a chrome extension that you
can download and check if your pixel is firing ,on your website if it's not you may need to go
and fix that initially just download the chrome ,extension and you can see that our tick tock pixel
is set up here shopify set it up for us and it ,should be firing this is a page view because we're
on a page when you add a product to cart it should ,fire the add to cart pixel or if someone purchases
you can test a purchase and it will also fire that ,pixel in the exact right way so now we're in
the tiktok ads account we can go ahead and ,create our first campaign campaign structures
are really important to talk about it's what ,separates good advertisers from bad advertisers
that alongside really effective marketing content ,the basic structure is you have a campaign which
is what objective you are striving for if you've ,got something like a real estate business
it might be leads you're trying to collect ,leads but we've got a e-commerce business
so we want to get purchases then you've ,got the ad set level which is basically the
targeting that you're setting up to complete ,that campaign objective then finally you've got
your ads that live within each of those ad sets ,these ads are different creative types that

account of this brand that i'm,scaling and i just started playing,around with the value which is really,cool normally i have a ton of videos,right on lowest cost and cost cap,bidding which i think is super cool i,will show you guys in a second,how they match up and rank but,even if you get the tiniest bit of,information out of this video it's huge,because you can apply it straight to,your ad account,i'd rather make these type of videos for,you,rather than the 14 day drop shipping,challenge or,top 10 products of,july or top 10 products you wouldn't,with like a click bait thumbnail and all,this stuff just to get clout views and,it's all very gorgeous,today junior regurgitated content which,i don't really think uh you deserve and,your time shouldn't be wasted,so let's get right as i said again let's,get right into this value optimization,strategy here,so before if you if you haven't watched,my previous video you know that i was,doing a lot of cost cap bidding inside,this ad account and now we're really,moving on and testing different things,so we're taking the winning ad groups,that we already have our winning ad,groups that perform really well and now,we're testing value optimization,so it's similar to what bids that i'm,testing on value optimization and cost,cap so this was the first bid of value,minimum row as i launched yesterday at,2.77 that was the minimum row as that i,selected and you could see here 14 cents,epc crushed it cpm under two dollars,and the cpa not even tracked correctly,in my opinion,you know,very like 60 to 70 being tracked i don't,know why the pixel's been weird lately,but,cpa amazing,um,compared to even the cost caps cost cap,cpa was like 15 to about 25 cpa and,we're still hitting 30 to 40 margins on,the store,obviously right this is still low scale,but i'm telling you guys almost what i'm,doing and what i'm going to continue to,do into this ad account and across all,the brands that i'm working on and,working with,so we have this one,value optimization at group 2.77 with an,automated creative optimization,targeting us,no no interest super broad 18 to 55 plus,male female,aco and 712 ads is the date that we,uploaded these new ad creatives in like,i said once i get new ads as well i'm,gonna be taking my winning bids,and ad groups and just plugging in my,new creatives and inside this ad ad,group i have three to five add creatives,and three,ad texts okay three ad copies,with,dynamic cta or call to action on so i,decided hey i'm gonna test 2.77 bid and,a 3.33 row as bit just to see how it,goes obviously the 2.77 did better much,better than the 3.3 but it still,performed well and what i'm seeing,is my normal cost per add to cart is,around six to eight dollars on this,product on these ad groups it hit two to,three dollars obviously like,there's only 60 bucks spent on these ad,groups and the significance isn't as,high as i would like to but i'm gonna,keep you guys updated throughout the,days as well on how these are performing,over time,but what i did today was i duplicated,that 2.77 row as one and now i'm gonna,be testing in one cent increments,again if you have watched another,previous video you know i'm trying to,keep this a bit lower scale until the,payment processing can you know get,settled and that should be this week so,after this week i'm going to really,scale this up for you guys and what is going on guys my name is gerardo,and if we haven't met let me tell you a,little bit about myself i am a tick,talker that also happens to run a tick,tock marketing agency we focus on,helping brands grow both organically and,through paid ads on tick tock over the,past year i've managed over 2 million in,ad spend exclusively on tick tock so i,wanted to bring all my knowledge over to,youtube that being said let's go ahead,and get right into it,so as you can see here we are at the ad,group level and we've made our way down,to targeting so i'm going to walk you,through all the actual targeting,features what they mean what you can do,with them and how to actually use them,in your actual campaigns,so first things first we have audiences,uh this is comprised off of custom,audiences and look like audiences if,you're not familiar with what a custom,audience is i'll have a separate video,on that as well as lookalikes but just,to give you a quick rundown a custom,audience is essentially compiling a list,of people based off of different,interactions that they've had with,either your website uh it could be a,custom email list could be your actual,tick tock business profile and a couple,others as well,basically the idea before custom,audiences they come in clutch,specifically when you're looking to,retarget users that may have interacted,with your business in the past,if you are actually running campaigns,for the first time don't sweat this at,all i just go ahead and leave this blank,for the time being,you can also exclude specific audiences,so let's say for example you create an,audience of people that have already,purchased from you in the last 30 days,depending on what that actual audience,size is it could be pretty impactful to,make your ads a little bit more,effective as well which you could,actually select here in the excluded,section,demographics so when it comes to,demographics obviously you have location,and one thing i actually highlight you,can get a little bit more detailed with,your location these days uh on tick tock,and break it down not just by country,but also by actual,state as well so if you have something,that's a little bit more local or you,want to target a specific state within a,country i know some countries are,accessible for that specific feature but,in terms of location pretty,straightforward,uh gender not much to explain there age,so funny thing about tick tock age is,not as,uh how would you say it's on facebook,for example you have the option to,select like only 18 year olds only 19,year olds here they're blocked into,different segments but again,depending on who your product is catered,to if you're trying to sell something,that's more of an adult demographic or a,younger demographic just act accordingly,based off of your best instinct or just,leave it completely wide open,languages i tend to just leave this,blank depending on what country you're,running again if you're targeting the us,i think all languages is just fine,yeah i wouldn't really fuss that too,much,now when it comes to interest and,behaviors this is where it actually gets,pretty fun,so as you can see here we have the,option to actually just target whatever,tick tock recommends now the thing here,is,if you don't have like a seasoned pixel,meaning a pixel that's been operating,for a long time or you don't have a lot,of conversion data this might not be the,best option right off the bat typically,what i like to do is when i'm launching,test campaigns i start super super,simple and i'll create one ad group with,a wide open audience so what do i mean,by that i mean say for example i'm,targeting 13 up to 34 i can leave gender,open location open no custom audiences,bam that would be my open audience right,super simple super open,and i have a very very large audience to,actually go after,the reason being here is you can,actually let the,actual algorithm optimize accordingly,and in addition to that over time you,will be able to see,which interests your campaigns are best,converting on so that you can create sub,ad groups based off of that uh actual,data which again i'll make a video on uh,at a further date,now,if we're talking about interest these,are just general interests that you can,search for basically under any category,and they're broken down into different,tiers so,what you see initially are going to be,tier 1 interest right so let's say for,example we click on apps everything,under this,secondary string is going to be tier 2,interest so let's say for example we're,doing business and productivity within,here this would be our t3,or tier 3 and then sometimes you'll have,tier 4 on tech talk as well,you can also search specifically like,beauty and see what comes up,so to action button as part of the ad,which i'll show you how to do,later in this tutorial they have a,buttload of likes,at 200k plus for this specific ad alone,which means they most likely,ran an engagement campaign on tick-tock,but the point here is you don't always,need to have a really fancy you know,dancing tick-tock video to succeed so,this is an example of an ad that works,and it's just a very,simple uh you know apparel video the,next one is,from nike this one's pretty interesting,have you watched this,you know ad loan by itself you're,probably going to wonder,how the heck is this working how does it,drive customers to,buy anything or do anything wouldn't,blame you but,what's going on here is also genius and,can drive virality the goal here is to,get,as many users to repost this as a duet,as you can see here they've reposted it,you know they've got some,engaging dancing going on more people,that repost this as a duet the more,eyeballs,that see this ad and the more
