in the last 90 days i've spent over 600,000,on tick tock ads with our clients and,every day we're migrating more and more,budget over from facebook to tick tock,and in today's video i'm going to be,covering the top five ways you can learn,from the lessons that i have after,spending six hundred thousand dollars on,tick tock ads,hello everyone my name is chase chapel,your favorite digital marketer here,let's get into this video so these are,the lessons from spending 600 000,dollars in tick tock ads and i would,have been far better off if i had,already learned these lessons in advance,or had somebody to really guide me,through the process of understanding,what it is that make tick tock ads,convert how to structure the audiences,and all of the learnings that we've had,from other platforms to be able to be,successful on tick tock ads and that's,exactly what i'm going to be doing today,is i'm going to be walking you through,the top five things that are going to,allow you to be successful with tick,tock ads from the things that we've done,after spending 600 000 on tick tock ads,so let's go ahead and jump into the,first thing and start covering some of,the things you can do to actually,increase your overall conversions and as,you can see here we spent a little over,six hundred thousand dollars on testing,this far just in the last 90 days that's,about 148 million impressions from that,amount of spending about 2 million,clicks overall and so let's go ahead and,go over the tick tock adds creative best,practices so number one is videos with a,duration of 21 seconds to 34 seconds,have a 280 percent lift and conversion,yes you heard that right 21 seconds to,34 seconds if you literally just have,tick tock ads that are at least 21 to 34,seconds long,you automatically have a competitive,advantage over other tick tock,advertisers and the reason for this lift,and conversions is because that's enough,time for you to deliver information in a,concise way to the actual consumer that,might be purchasing your product or the,business that might actually be you know,choosing to work with your service and,you want to time it between 21 to 34,seconds you don't want it to be overly,long you don't want it to be overly,short,so definitely try to be within this,range because you are going to see much,better conversions by doing so and this,is data that ticktalk actually has from,you know hundreds of thousands of,advertisers that are actually already on,the platform and we're seeing this with,our results too videos that are between,21 to 34 seconds do actually convert,better,and we also see that the 9 16 aspect,ratio does help with lifting conversions,that is vertical video y'all you'll want,to make sure you have vertical video you,don't want to try to apply square video,and have these black spaces in between,the actual video you want to make sure,that these videos are actually vertical,tick tock is a vertical placement so you,want to make sure your content actually,fits for tick tock so make sure you have,a 9x16 aspect ratio in your actual,videos that is simply filming on your,phone that's the best way to do it to,actually keep the vertical video in,check and that resolution is actually,going to be higher and that actually,leads us to the next point if your video,is actually above 720p you're going to,see a 312 lifting conversion so if you,just apply these three things you're,going to see you know 280 lift and 91,left and even up to a 312 percent lift,in conversions by having hd video if you,upload a very low quality video the back,door is this you're likely going to get,much less conversions than other,accounts would and if you have ads that,are actually converting now with a low,quality video well if you just upgrade,the quality you could be seeing much,better conversions at the exact same,cost the next thing is number two and,that's tick tock user generated content,this is very big because you have,branded ads and you have spark ads,branded ads are essentially what you see,here this is an ad by go clove and you,know their shoe brand and they have,these actual you know branded outline,where it has the colors of their blue,they're green and the actual ad and it's,very branded and when you come across it,looks very much so like an ad these,types of ads do work to some degree and,you know do have good conversion rates,depending on you know how they're,actually flexing their brand and,actually driving you know consideration,and actually having people make the,conversion based off of what's actually,in the actual ad and you can see has 57,likes you know people are commenting,that they are interested in the product,which is a good thing but overall we're,seeing much better results with tiktok,spark ads and ugc content where we're,actually using user generated content in,the ads and that is a form of raw video,and user generated content is,essentially content that is created video so as most of you,probably know already there's been one,particular app that's been taking over,the world recently and that app is,called tick tock now if you've never,heard of tick tock that would be a,little surprising but just in case you,haven't it's an app where users can,share short little videos of themselves,set to music or other soundtracks that,they can post for the whole world to see,despite tic TOCs massive popularity,though it's gotten a lot of backlash,recently for something I'm sure most of,you are familiar with which is they're,very aggressive ad campaign which has,left a lot of people wondering why on,earth is every single YouTube ad I see,an ad for tick tock and I myself was,very confused by this as an avid YouTube,viewer I was curious as to why I was,getting the same ads over and over and,over again and curious as to where this,app tick tock even came from so I did a,little bit of research and found out a,ton of information on why tick tock is,marketing their apps so heavily right,now and what their long-term goals might,be to grow the application and that,information is what I'm about to share,with you right now,so tick tock was launched in September,of 2016 under the Chinese name Julian,and it was later introduced to overseas,markets under the name,tick tock it was launched by a company,called bite dance which was founded in,2012 and is responsible for three other,major social media application although,largely unknown to Western markets by,dance is one of the largest startups in,the world right now although it's,private it was recently valued at over,75 billion dollars and to give you a bit,of a reference for that uber is valued,at 75 billion dollars right now so this,startup is about the same size as uber,which means it's about 1/10 the size of,Apple and Amazon although it was not,originally backed by me,investors buy dances success can largely,be attributed to its cutting edge,artificial intelligence technology which,it uses in all of its apps to help,customize the apps to the users and help,them grow internationally,so after tik-tok was founded its,popularity quickly skyrocketed in China,and across the world,tik-tok is getting massive global,traction in the first half of this year,it was the number one download in the,App Store worldwide beating out other,behemoths like YouTube whatsapp,Instagram and Facebook the fight dance,wanted to grow Tik Tok even further and,looking around it found that musically,it was a very compatible app to the,long-term goals of bike dance and so in,September of 2017 bite dance actually,purchased musically for 1 billion,dollars to merge it eventually with Tik,Tok to create a super app so bite is,kept its purchase separate from Tik Tok,for a while but in August of 2018 the,two merged together under the name Tik,Tok,which means musically is no longer,existing under its previous name and,that's essentially where we stand today,with tik toks hey welcome back into another video here,on the channel today,i'm going to be talking about what the,key differences are,between facebook ads tick tock ads the,platforms have,phenomenal differences between them,there's certain situations where you,could use both,but i want to outline the pros the cons,the differences and things that you're,aware of so you could,literally today go ahead and launch ads,on one of these platforms potentially,both if you know me if you follow the,channel for a while,you know that i always recommend,learning one thing first in an,advertising and marketing,world you are going to get the best,results when you dominate one platform,first the reason for that,is most paid ad platforms you know,outside of you know paying a youtube,influencer for a huge shout out,things like google ads facebook guys tic,toc anything like that where there's,pixels involved and it's data driven,if you can build a ton of data from tick,tock ads,and you also had your facebook and,google pixel on the store the whole time,well transitioning from tick tock to,facebook is going to be easy because you,already have,3 000 sales on the pixel season data,facebook knows who your customer is you,can build lookalike and retargeting,audiences right away,it's going to be an easy migration so,just keep that in mind really focusing,on one thing otherwise you kind of get,lost in the sauce as they say too,distracted now between the two platforms,there's huge differences number one,understand first and foremost that if,you go with facebook you will run into,problems with being disabled,for no reason restricted for no reason,and potentially banned,for no reason it got to the point where,about a year and a half ago i had to,start remote accessing other computers,on different servers,using dozens of other people's facebook,profiles across hundreds of different ad,accounts with multiple backup pixels on,everything,we're talking about an infrastructure,that costed about 65 000 to build,and about 15 000 a month to manage and,maintain,that's not advertising cost that is,structure cost,so that's what i had to do to get around,stuff because i was doing,nothing wrong i was selling stuff that,wasn't showing any skin,it wasn't remotely close to violin in a,policy but that's facebook for you it's,hard to explain and as someone who,you know if you don't run ads that might,sound crazy and weird to you but that is,truly just what the platform is be,prepared for a world of headaches,here's why facebook is a great option,though it's,really not that hard to master okay,excuse me there it's really not that,hard to make money with,anything like that is difficult to,master but it's a platform,that in my opinion is the lowest cost,to start if you want to start something,from scratch with tick tock ads or start,something from scratch with google,based on my experience it's going to,take you more money,to do that okay and there's certain,products on tick tock where it just,might pop off faster,but in my experience facebook at least,with the skills that i have is,pretty simple to get the ball rolling,with you know inside of our e-commerce,program we put a lot of attention on,facebook for a simple reason,any business owner that's getting,started you need cash flow,without cash flow your business can't,survive you need positive money coming,in,right total gross revenue expenses,there's your profit left you need a,profit margin with that you can now,venture into other things and it makes,making more money even easier because,now you can do all sorts of different,things that cost money,so facebook is probably going to be the,best option for you,if you are looking for extreme,consistency if you want to grow it,really slowly,and if you also want something that is,probably targeted towards a more,specific audience,and ideally an audience that's 35 years,old or older,that is the prime category my main brand,inside the health and orthopedic space,we service about 65 of our customers are,35 and above,the rest of those out of that 35,probably 25,of them are like probably 28 and above,so it's very,rare that they're in the 25 year old and,under,category it's very rare that that,happens and,this made tick tock ads not very,efficient because tick tock is just a,younger platform,that's all it is it's also a platform,that is very,general from an advertising perspective,so go go ahead open a business account,on tick tock,you can see it doesn't cost you anything,and you'll see instantly the similarity,how they literally ripped off facebook,and it's a it's a exact format copy,which makes it easy to run if you're,familiar with facebook but tick tock is,probably going to work the best for you,if you have a more,general viral organic type product you,know things that are,led light strips led light bulbs um,you're just crazy little phone cases,anything that can kind of go viral you,know like,the lighters that are of january 2021 tick tock raked in 128 million in ,user spending marking an increase of 380 from its
january 2020 revenue so it's growing year on year ,almost 4x in user revenue now take top ranks
as the second biggest app in consumer spend ,above youtube disney plus and netflix this
is probably the uh the biggest stat on this ,screen ranking above youtube and netflix in
consumer spend is absolutely ridiculous so ,it's a monumental opportunity for people and
businesses to sell their products on the platform ,how many times have you spoken to someone they've
said ah i found that product on tick tock it's ,happening a lot these days so let's jump on to how
you can actually make the most of that so this is ,the tick tock ad structure so at the top we have
tick tocks ad manager then we have ad campaigns ,we have ad groups we have ad creative and then
landing pages to break these down one by one tick ,doc ads manager is where you manage your ticktock
advertising account similar to the facebook ,ad manager now a ad campaign is the foundation
of your ad so we're setting up our advertising ,objectives and formats we then have ad group which
is target audiences ad placements budget and the ,bidding then we have the ad creative which is
the text and the video that will appear on our ,apps what we're physically seeing then finally our
landing page and this is the destination url that ,we are driving our potential customers too this
is the place where they will actually buy our ,products or service so when you actually have your
tick tock ad account up and running this is kind ,of what the format will look like we have our ad
manager at the top we have campaigns beneath that ,then inside an ad campaign we would have multiple
ad groups so we'll be testing out multiple ,audiences and inside those audiences we may even

heavily reliant on facebook because it's such an ,incredible marketing tool but lots of people are
getting heaps of success with the new entertaining ,nature of tick tock ads so it might be perfect
for your brand this video is perfect for beginners ,we're not going to skip any steps but i'm also
going to go into some advanced things around ,content because that is so important to make sure
that you make tick tock ads work the first step ,you're going to want to do is set up your shopify
store if you haven't set up your shopify store ,just pause the video click the link in my bio and

ready we're just going to make sure that we set up ,tiktok properly so the pixel is firing once you're
in shopify the best way to go is go into apps and ,just write in tiktok simply download the official
tiktok app and click add sales channel this is the ,exact same as facebook nowadays this will bring
up this little tick tock section down on the left ,hand store of your shopify store if you don't have
shopify still carry on watching we're going to get ,into the nitty gritty in a second once this is set
up we can click this section here setting up the ,pixel the next step you can see that it's saying
connect tick tock for business this is where you ,need a new tick tock account already have a tick
tock business account you can just click connect ,but today we're gonna have to create a brand new
one so i'm just gonna click create new at the top ,enter my email address get the verification code
sent into the verification code here agree to ,terms and conditions and just click sign up you
can click connect down the bottom right and that's ,now created an ads manager business manager under
that email we can click create new ad account and ,we can select the country and the currency that we
want to be built in this is generally the region ,that you want to be targeting change the business
name to something a little bit simpler click sign ,up and connect you'll come to this data sharing
section which we've touched on a few times in my ,previous episodes just click enhanced or maximum
providing you've got the terms and conditions set ,up for something and then click confirm maximum
is obviously preferred this is how shopify shares ,data with ticktock this is referred to as capi

like facebook there's something called tic toc ,pixel helper and it's a chrome extension that you
can download and check if your pixel is firing ,on your website if it's not you may need to go
and fix that initially just download the chrome ,extension and you can see that our tick tock pixel
is set up here shopify set it up for us and it ,should be firing this is a page view because we're
on a page when you add a product to cart it should ,fire the add to cart pixel or if someone purchases
you can test a purchase and it will also fire that ,pixel in the exact right way so now we're in
the tiktok ads account we can go ahead and ,create our first campaign campaign structures
are really important to talk about it's what ,separates good advertisers from bad advertisers
that alongside really effective marketing content ,the basic structure is you have a campaign which
is what objective you are striving for if you've ,got something like a real estate business
it might be leads you're trying to collect ,leads but we've got a e-commerce business
