alrighty so you'll run some ads on Tick,Tock you let your campaign run for a,couple days and then now it's the time,to analyze look at your data and,optimize based on that you see if you,are not taking advantage of your like,previous numbers and your previous ad,creatives you are playing a casino game,you are guessing when it comes to,launching the next ad creatives and that,might lead to a lot of money living on,the table now in this video I am going,to show you step by step on how to look,at your numbers read understand and,leverage the data so you could create,more winning ads for your next campaigns,so to do that let me go to my Tick Tock,ads manager and then I will kind of show,you an example here what we could do to,understand better what our Tick Tock ads,are saying to us and,then we have here the total result I,want to see whether the CTR is impacting,the number of results that we're getting,so let's say that you know we have this,kind of situation that let's say that,our CTR is going down and when our,results also kind of looks that we go,kind of like downhill that could be like,a proven signal that your ad creative,kind of like got fatigued and you need,to improve it and you need to launch,something new into that ad set in this,case we could see that it kind of goes,stable and the results they kind of like,also are close to this blue line which,is our click for rate so in this case,this is wine also the same thing with a,cost per click like I want to see how,the cards per click is impacting the,number of results pretty much the,results is what we what's up my friend dk here and in this,video i'm going to expose tick-tock ads,and if you are considering running,tick-tock ads or if you have tick-tock,ads running you need to pay very very,close attention to this video because,i'm going to expose some things that you,might not have noticed might not have,seen or just was totally unaware of and,i'm gonna show you some things that you,need to have in place and if you're not,doing this you are leaving serious money,on the table and could be wasting huge,hundreds or even thousands of dollars on,tick tock ads if you're not tracking,this data so let's dive right in and i'm,going to show you share my screen share,my results and show you exactly what is,going on inside the world of tick tock,ads,so what we're looking at here is my tick,tock ads manager and i currently have,two ads running i have one which is a,basic traffic ad which is the lower one,here on the screen i'll blow this up so,you can see it a little better and then,i have a second ad which is a conversion,ad which i'm focused on leads and sales,so as an example uh what i'm tracking,right here so you guys can see this i'm,looking at the last seven days so this,is a seven day average so this first ad,right here that you can see this is a,conversion ad and we're not really going,to focus on this one but i just want to,mention this one so i have six,conversions over the last,uh over the last seven days oh sorry 66,conversions for a total cpa cost per,acquisition of three dollars and 18,cents per conversion which realistically,isn't that bad you know when you look in,the world of online marketing uh you,typically range about three to five,dollars a lead so three dollars and,eighteen cents per lead or per,conversion uh is actually not too bad,i've had this at this,one account right here this one ad was,down to i had it at 98 cents uh and it,has gone up significantly over the last,seven to ten days so it's trending north,which kind of sucks but what we really,want to focus on here is,the next ad which is a traffic ad i've,actually had this traffic ad running,longer so we have we're going to look at,three things we're going to look at,actually going to look at two things,we're going to look at total clicks,and we're going to look at the ctr which,is the click-through rate so,according to tick-tock over the last,seven days okay over the last seven days,we have a total of 11 000 clicks or a,6.42,click-through rate now again i had this,weeks ago,i had this click-through rate at about,65 to 70 percent and it significantly,declined and been declining uh over the,last couple of weeks now why that is i'm,not 100 sure but,the number that we really want to look,at is this total clicks so we've had 11,745 clicks in the last what,seven days now for you i don't know,about you but i'm a data junkie and i,track literally every single metric that,i possibly can for my business you,should too if you're looking at running,tick-tock ads if you're thinking about,tick-tock ads or you're currently,running tick-tock ads you really need to,know your real true data so what do i,mean by that i use a software called,click magic,so,um,click magic and this is not a this is,not a bait and switch this is not a,click magic,you know ad here by any means,i'm just showing you the software that i,use to track the real true clicks and,click magic is a tool as a business,owner you should be using tools to,actually track your clicks and your,conversions not just relying on another,data source like,facebook ads manager tick tock ads,manager you in this tutorial i'm going to give you a,practical introduction to the tick tock,ads api,so at first we're going to learn how to,get access to the ticktack ads api then,we'll examine your account campaigns ad,groups and ads,then you'll learn how you can report on,your ads and lastly how you can find the,best performing ad by ad spend,so this tutorial is targeted,at marketers,who,run some type of tick tock ads and,should be ideally comfortable in a,somewhat technical environment so,maybe you're a spreadsheet pro or you've,dabbled with some,some sort of apis before,maybe you have some programming,experience um,yeah but you must feel somewhat,comfortable,with these terms and,with accessing your tick tock ad account,programmatically,but this introduction will guide you,step by step through how you can do this,yourself,so before we get started,we need to get access to the tiktok ads,api and,if you watched one of our other,tutorials on the facebook ads api it was,very straightforward to get an access,token by creating an application and,then working with a facebook graph api,explorer,on ticktop on ticktalk it's not so easy,so,in order to,make your first api call through the,ticktalk ads api what you need to do,first is register as a developer,then get approved which usually takes a,few days,and then,use your credentials to create an access,token but let's get started,so first of all um you can go to,ads.ticktalk.com,marketing api,and you could should get to a page that,look uh looks some something like this,um this is the home page uh over here,and if you have not created a tick tock,account before there should be a button,here saying register as a developer,and once you've registered as a,developer so you go through a few,different steps here,once you've registered as a developer,you can go and create an app so i'm,going to go to my apps over here,and as you can see i previously already,created,two apps one that we actually use in our,business the kitchen io app and then we,have the kitchen i o demo app which i,specifically created,for this tutorial,i will just run you through how you can,create your own app as well,so first of all let's go over here,create new so,first we need to give it a name so i'm,just going to call this the kitchen,aisle demo at,number two,and yeah,we need to provide a short description,um,we want to,pull some reporting data,all right that did not work,kitchen io demo app number two,pull some reporting data,so these two things are fairly,straightforward now we have two more,points that may,are not so straightforward for you,so we have the advertiser redirect url,and we have the scope of permissions,the advertiser redirect url,is the place where ticktalk will send,advertisers after connecting their ad,account to your app,of course in our case we just want to,create an app that we use ourselves so,there is no advertiser connecting their,ad account this is just us,connected on our own account so you can,just put your home page here i'm just,going to put hours as well,and then we need to select some scope of,permission so in order to protect,advertisers which again in our case is,not so relevant but technically in order,to predict advertisers from accidentally,sharing crucial information with a third,party app like the kitchen io app,the api access is broken up in different,scopes that means if you want to build,an app for other people to use that can,create ads or that can report on ads or,upload assets or something like that,then you can specify what type of,permission is relevant in our case,we can ignore the ad account management,part this would only be relevant if you,were building an app that was about,sharing access to your accounts or,something like that in our case we just,want to do ad management so we want to,read out campaign information etc,we want to be able to report so all of,the reporting levels are relevant and,then,if you,also want to create an ad we also need,creative management in order to upload,videos or images,and that's it so as you can see there,are a bunch of different,scopes of permissions here as well so,for example things like automated rules,things like add comments etc and those,are not really relevant right now,for us for this intro tutorial but feel,free to select anything or everything,as you please and then,once you hit confirm i'm not going to do,this now but once you hit confirm um you,will see that your app will be pending,and this usually takes two to three days,um so,if you're hitting confirm now,stop the so in the next step let's take a look at,examining our account campaigns ad,groups etc basically look at our tick,tock ad account via the api,and in order to make our first api call,what we need to do is make sure that,we're using the access token that we,created in the previous video and use,that to make our api call so i'm just,going to bring up insomnia over here so,we had our first,call over here where we,requested our access token with our auth,code secret and app id and we got back,the access token so i'm just going to,copy,this over here,and let's,prepare a new request,over here,so in order to make an api request to,tick talk we need to pass in,the,access token as a header argument,so it needs to say access token and then,our access token and then we need to,specify the content type as well as,we're passing in json,and that's it this is what our every,request will look like so all we need to,do now is figure out what type of,requests we want to make,um so let's go over to the official,tiktok,documentation,and i am now in the campaign management,part of the documentation you can see,here where there is an overview and,there's some api reference as well let's,start with the overview,and let's start with the campaign,structure so this is something you may,already be familiar with if you're,running ads on take talk yourself but as,we know this from facebook or google we,have a three-tiered structure so we have,a campaign an ad group sometimes this,will be called ad set on other platforms,and then we have an ad and we can see,the different parameters or attributes,that are being defined on each level so,we have objective and budget and,campaign level,we have,also budget on ad group level so there,seems to be a possibility to set this on,either level the promoted object right,what are we advertising the placement um,the audience,and then of course bidding and,optimization and then on ad level we,have add format the actual creatives,that we're using text call to action etc,so it looks like creatives here in this,case are referring to videos and images,because text and call to action is,mentioned separately on facebook for,example when facebook refers to,something to uh to,as an ad creative uh that,technically means the entire user facing,part of the ad so the video image but,also any text the url etc,cool,so,um,let's,dive into the api reference over here,and let's take a look at some sample,sample request so we can we can actually,get all campaigns i think this may be a,good starting point,to get all campaigns belonging to an,account,all right and what we can see here is,that in order to get the campaigns we,have this request address over here,which is what we can simply copy,and use in our request i'm just going to,copy that over here,this is now my,request and i'm going to rename it to,get all campaigns,cool so of course right now there's no,way for the api to know what,ad account i actually want to use what we already,did before i'm not going to,reuse this or show you how to do this,every single time,because this is always the same,but what is important is what are the,request parameters and in click connect down the bottom right and that's  ,now created an ads manager business manager under  that email we can click create new ad account and  ,we can select the country and the currency that we  want to be built in this is generally the region  ,that you want to be targeting change the business  name to something a little bit simpler click sign  ,up and connect you'll come to this data sharing  section which we've touched on a few times in my  ,previous episodes just click enhanced or maximum  providing you've got the terms and conditions set  ,up for something and then click cost also i don't really do cost,caps anything else until i get some,purchase data and then when it comes to,the creatives i usually like to have,three creatives in each ad group and,it's the exact same creatives i like to,give my creators five chances of being,successful compared to only having one,ad in each ad group and sure yes that ad,gets 20 of ad spend but if that audience,sucks and the cpm maybe is inflated then,that ad could be a winner but it was the,audience's fault so i like to give each,creative five chances all right it's,time to get serious so after you've set,up your campaign you really need to know,one important metric what is your,breakeven cpa that is the most important,thing that you will be using to analyze,all of your ads and if you're not using,it to analyze your ads right now,frankly i think you're an absolute idiot,so when we go down to this specific,brand we can see that buying one is 34,for this product and let's say,hypothetically it costs four dollars to,fulfill so that means our breakeven cpa,is 30 so if an ad group is under 30 25,20 that means you are profitable and,that is the main thing i'm always,looking at and when evaluating a,campaign so when we go down here and we,look at our columns we can see right,here i got cost cpc one of the ads were,scheduled all these other things are,extraneous they are not the most,important things so i would get straight,into the meat and potatoes whenever,analyzing a campaign after a day and i,would say all right which one of my ad,groups are profitable which ones are not,and as we see right here this ad group,is absolutely going off three complete,payments eight dollars we are looking,good and this is the most important,thing you should be focusing your,attention right in this space but when,we look at the other ad groups we can,see another one is profitable perfect,then when we go to the other three i,would say would i turn off something,that's not profitable after the first,day,sometimes yes and that's typically if it,has very little add to carts so from,this first one i would see okay this one,has one add to cart i'm gonna kill it,but this one at the bottom that has,seven add to carts it just didn't get a,purchase because hey sometimes it can be,unlucky i would definitely leave it on,and see after one more day if it can get,a purchase now if it doesn't get a,purchase after another day yes we're,gonna turn it off it's probably just bad,traffic and with this one that has three,add to carts i would say in general,usually three after cards will lead to,one purchase and that would have made,this somewhat profitable so i actually,would have left this on as well and,getting into day two of the data we can,see that if we left the bottom one on,that had some add to carts it actually,was our best performing ad group on the,second day so for me yes if it shows,some signs of life i do let ad groups,spend for two days now let's say if this,campaign after one day had no purchases,whatsoever but a ton of adds to carts,i'm still gonna let it run for another,day i know with tick tock it sometimes,takes an extra day to optimize it's not,as fast as facebook some people need a,little bit of time and with tick tock,it's a brand new platform it's still,figuring out a lot of things and that's,why we like to keep it very broad so,that tick tock has a large audience that,he can eventually narrow down on and we,can also see on day two that our best,performing ad group is still performing,very well this one right here is still,getting one conversion still
