Is it actually possible,to reach B2B buyers,with TikTok ads?,This was a challenge,that I personally gave,myself because once I,realized that TikTok,passed YouTube and,average watch time, I,knew this was a channel,I couldn't ignore.,I'm Silvio Perez,,and in this video I'm,gonna talk you through,an experiment that,I set up disproving,,whether or not you,could actually reach,B2B buyers on a,platform like TikTok.,With that, let's get,into the video now.,The goal of this,experiment was to reach,B2B marketers of a,manager plus seniority.,I was promoting my,newsletter as an offer,and to really make sure,that I was capturing,the right folks,,and I was actually,getting in front of,those B2B marketers.,I used a lead gen,form, and on that,lead gen form I set up,two custom questions.,The first one,is yes or no.,Are you a B2B,marketer and they,have to manually,press yes or no.,The second one was,,what is your job title?,They had to actually,go ahead and type,out their entire job.,Because information,doesn't get pre-filled,on TikTok lead gen,forms like it does,with LinkedIn ads,,as an example.,So awful user,experience, but I,really wanted to make,sure, are we actually,getting in front of,B2B buyers, and in,this case, specifically,B2B marketers.,Now, in terms of,targeting, TikTok,is very similar,to Facebook in,terms of the most,relevant channel.,It's not like LinkedIn,ads at all, where,you have the ability,to target based on,,you know, certain job,titles or functions,,seniority and so on.,And so, So for the,most part, it's pretty,loose targeting.,The most precision,you can get, at,least at the time of,this recording, is,based on hashtags.,So what I did was,I kept it really,broad and I kept my,targeting based on,interest of marketing,and advertising.,Which you can imagine,is a lot of folks.,And then taking it a,step further, I layered,a filter of 25 plus,for age range to make,sure that my ad is,getting in front of,people that are more,like my demographic.,With that being said,,I know a lot of folks,when they think about,TikTok, they just,think about young,kids and their ads,getting in front of,kids that are just,not qualified, right?,Or they'll never be,qualified anytime soon.,And you know, rest,assured that you,can use age range,filters on TikTok.,To make sure that,your ad is actually,getting in front of,the right audience,and demographic.,So with that, just to,recap, I was promoting,my newsletter.,We were using a lead,gen form with two,custom questions.,Are you a B2,marketer and what's,your job title?,The interest targeting,was marketing and,advertising, and we're,targeting folks 25,plus age range, and,that's how I set up,my experiment to see,if we can actually,reach these in.,Now let's go ahead and,talk through the actual,results of when I,launched this campaign.,Now the results that,came through were,really surprising.,I actually have it,here cause I don't,wanna mess up any,of the numbers.,Now, of all the form,submissions that came,through, 87% responded.,Yes, they're a,B2B marketer.,Taking it a step,further of the job,titles that came,through 21% are what I,would consider perfect,job titles such as,VP of Marketing, cmo,,which is extremely,surprising, reaching,these types of,people on TikTok.,Also, senior Director,of Demand Generation.,There's an amazing,title, so Perfect,Job titles was about,21%, and I was being,really strict on what,I considered perfect.,We also had some other,interesting job titles,that came through,,but they weren't.,Such as sales director,,we had sales exec.,So that was,cool to see.,But obviously I,was looking for B2B,marketers, but that,is definitely a B2B,persona that I could,totally see somebody,wanting to get in,front of, uh, another,B2B organization.,And then we also had,some really interesting,ones that came through,,such as like a Boss,Queen and Toad wr.,Now I actually,thought Queen like a,boss, toad Wrangler.,That was gonna be all,of the form submissions,that came through,when I first started,this experiment.,But to my surprise,,I actually was able,to get in front of,solid B2B marketers.,And taking it a step,further, I gave it,some time to see how,do those folks interact,with my newsletter?,What's the,engagement like?,And of the leads,generated from TikTok.,I had a 40% open rate,and actually netted,five sales from,my newsletter from,people that originally,came from this,TikTok ad campaign.,So that was really,impressive and,surprising in terms of,overall performance.,It cost me $5 and 77,cents per lead to my,newsletter, and I had,a 19.67% conversion,rate, which blew my,mind because I had a,legion form with those,two custom questions.,Terrible user,experience where,they had to manually,enter everything in.,So that really got me,excited buying the first five things,that TikTok ads recommend to me.,That's right, I'm gonna be giving TikTok,even more of my personal
information, a questionable move.,So, over the past few years,,we've done a few experiments
that involve buying products,from targeted ads across
social media platforms,,like Facebook, Instagram,
YouTube, and Snapchat,to see if their ad
algorithms and analytics,could match me to things I might like.,And a few months ago,,I finally relented and downloaded TikTok,,and lo and behold, there were
ads and abs, but mostly ads.,Now in general, TikTok has
actually become an environment,where companies and people interact a lot,,so I think a lot of businesses see TikTok,as a good marketing opportunity.,- Thank you Little Caesars,for the life size plush replica of me!,- And in terms
of the ads I've seen,,there's quite a wide variety.,(dramatic music),- I have been dreaming of
marriage with a rich girl.,- I've gotten ads for parks,,ads for like fake veneers and
ads for working for TikTok.,Some are for super small Etsy shops.,Some are for larger corporations.,Some play into TikTok trends,,or try to mimic the normal videos,you might see on your for you page,,and some are incredibly
low effort and confusing.,Like, what is this product,
and why is it so pixelated?,And I also know that other
people notice these ads as well,and can relate to getting blasted,by the same one for weeks on end.,- This is a plea to the
marketing people at HALARA.,Please, stop targeting me to
buy your mini tennis dress.,- Every time they open the app.,- Wow, I sure love my HALARA dress.,(sobs) It's, it's really cute!,- But TikTok does have a
very targeted algorithm.,I should know. I've been on
Edgar Allen Poe Tok before,,so maybe they do know best,,and maybe I will like
the things they show me.,So that's what we're gonna
do, buy the first five things,that TikTok ads recommend
to me and see how they do.,All right, so a couple of
quick disclaimers here.,One is that I'm gonna be
pretty much just ignoring,the first ad that comes up
right when you open the app,,because I usually find that
those are for movies, TV shows,or big companies like Credit Karma,,and I'm more interested in
their normal ad inventory,rather than the big banner ones,,which feel less targeted overall.,The other disclaimer is that
rather than just sitting,in one spot and just scrolling,until I get to all of the ads,,I'm gonna open the app up multiple times,throughout the day and
get my five ads that way,,just because that more closely replicates,the way I use TikTok on the daily,,compulsively opening the app,,scrolling through a few videos,,feeling guilty about wasting
time and then closing the app.,Alright, and with that,
let's ruin my algorithm.,Alright, so I've been scrolling,,and TikTok gave me a pretty good ad here.,This is an ad for Pizza
Hut's new limited edition,,streetwear line, Tastewear.,- They don't just sell pizza
anymore. They make streetwear.,And it's called Tastewear,
so let's get into it.,- Yes, that's right, Pizza
Hut made a track suit,,and they're advertising it to
me, which is weirdly targeted.,I am not necessarily the
world's biggest Pizza Hut fan,,but I am a huge fan of companies,doing weird PR things, including clothing.,KFC Crocs, sign me up.
Peeps Crocs, I'm there.,Pizza Hut parka, I mean, I have that.,I don't actually follow a
lot of brands on TikTok,,but I have posted a fair amount of videos,with weird clothing, including
the aforementioned Crocs,,so maybe that's what tipped them off.,So I am gonna get all of this
stuff, or as much as I can.,They have a jumpsuit that's inspired,by the plaid tablecloths
at Pizza Hut restaurants.,Then I'm gonna get their
T-shirt that is inspired,by their stained glass chandeliers,,and I'm also gonna get the slides.,They do also have a necklace,
which I'm gonna grab.,The pizza chain, oh I just

that the iconic red cup,was sadly already sold out,,and also that this is not that cheap,,specifically, the track
suit is kind of expensive,,which I wouldn't really
