hi i'm brushaw kapanis in this video,we're going to discuss the headers of,the sales report from shopify,so i've just noticed that a lot of,e-commerce entrepreneurs and the, marketers they are really confused about, the headers that are given in the cells, report that we extract from shopify,so let us just you know try and, understand that what that headers are,and put an end to the confusion that, happens every time,so first of all let me take you through, that report first,so this is a report uh that, you would see in shopify uh this is,actually,a real sales report but obviously i've,blurred it it's my client and,so i can't show you the names but yeah,so,if you see this is the day we don't want,to do anything with that in this video, orders gross sales discounts, returns and net sales shipping tax and, total sales,a lot of people don't understand what is,what and, like what are the calculations and a lot,of things right so let's go to the, jamboard and try to understand these, headers okay,so we are actually going to take a small, example,we are not going to rely on these, numbers that'll create more confusion,so we're going to take a small example, and we'll try to understand, every header okay so for that um,let's take an example wherein we are, selling t-shirts one t-shirt is for ten, dollars, and we have ten orders in a month or in,a year or whatever, time frame that you wanna take let's say,a month okay, and uh out of the 10 orders that we have, got,we gave discounts to three orders and,the discounts were 10,each uh two of them returned back and, three orders for three hours we charge, shipping and for three orders we have, charged, taxes let's let's make it that that, simple okay,uh now the first thing the first thing, here is orders right,so here you will be able to understand, that how many orders we have got in that, specific time period so let's say for, month,so over here we have 10 odds right so,the number one header is 10 orders, now gross sales what are gross sales, very simply to put,to put here is that 10 orders, into how much is one t-shirt,this 10 t-shirt right so 10 orders into,10,is equal to 100,and this is my cross sales, now let's say this is the gross size, right all right okay now this,is gross sales number two column here, gross, sales now after that, there is discounts so as mentioned in,this, example like what we have decided is,that we have given 10,discount to three orders so,quite simply, ten percent discount to three orders ten, percent of dollar ten,is one dollar so for three orders we,have given a discount of,three dollars in total so let me make a,box of here,so that three dollars is gonna be,from the gross sales itself,so if you can see, okay go to back, nice okay now at this point of time, what do we have, gross sales minus, discounts,so i'm gonna put one more, text box here and say minus dollar, three okay now the next column is,returns right so quite simply let's say,we have we have had two returns okay, and just for simplicity let's say that, people who did not get the discount have, returned, the t-shirt so the returns are going to,be in total of,10 into 2 that is 20 dollars right,so let me just frame this, okay sorry for the size, but yeah okay now, this is dollar,20 because, two of them have given that back to us,right,so now minus, returns, and when gross sales minus discounts, minus returns is this your term which we,call this net sales, right so now this is equal to,net sales, minus dollar 20 and that,is equal to,how much is that it is,dollar 77 so at this point of time, our net sales are dollar 77,this is that column now, let's now let's add our, shipping and taxes so let's see now,so we had like 10 orders two of them, returned it back to us,now we have charged shipping to three of,them, and we have charged access to three of,them let's say shipping is dollar two, per,uh per order uh so for three of them we,have charged, six dollars so,forget about the ratio here okay just, just pardon me for that,so this is,dollar six and that is shipping,so shipping is here now,we also have taxes right so let's say,we have a one dollar as taxes, and we have taken it from three orders, that will come here, dollar three, okay so net sales is done shipping is,done and taxes is done, now what are the total, sales so this net sales, now this dollar 77 plus, dollar six shipping and plus, dollar three,is equal to,total sales and that is equal to,86 dollars, right so this is total, sales, quite simply let me just show you with, net sales plus, shipping plus taxes is equals to,total sales so if,we can plot it here let me just, give a number to net sales, and this, and this,so this is net sales for us,the yellow ones right,so this is the simplification,of the headers of the sales report,so i hope you have understood the, headers of the sales report,if you have any questions put down in,the comments i'll surely address them,or maybe if you want me to explain it,or maybe if you want me to explain it a,little bit further i'll do that too, thank you see you again
